The January 2026 New York City edition of Nuclear Salon convened a fully subscribed, invitation-only group of leaders across capital, policy, technology, the nuclear supply chain, and energy media for an off-the-record dinner discussion under Chatham House Rules. Participants gathered despite severe winter conditions across the region, reflecting the level of engagement around the conversation.

The evening was designed as a cross-sector dialogue at a moment when nuclear is re-emerging as critical infrastructure for AI-driven demand growth, industrial electrification, and energy security. While interest in nuclear has accelerated, many of the most consequential questions remain unresolved and fragmented across disciplines.

The discussion centered on how capital is engaging earlier in the nuclear ecosystem, where risk is still being underwritten and traditional notions of bankability do not yet apply. Participants explored the practical realities of translating first-of-a-kind (FOAK) innovation into real-world deployment, including how capital formation, workforce readiness, supply chain maturity, and regulatory pathways intersect in practice.

A recurring theme throughout the evening was the gap between technological progress and deployment reality: what it will take to move from pilots and demonstrations to durable, scalable outcomes, and which questions remain most pressing for investors, operators, and policymakers alike.
